Lecturer of French (Full‑Time)

About the role

Loyola University Chicago is seeking a full‑time Lecturer of French to teach undergraduate courses across all proficiency levels. The position involves delivering language instruction, literature, and cultural studies, as well as contributing to curriculum development.

Key responsibilities

• Teach French language courses from introductory to advanced levels.
• Offer courses on Francophone literature, cinema, and cultural studies, with emphasis on African film.
• Prepare, deliver, and grade assignments, exams, and projects.
• Coordinate instructional content across multiple sections and collaborate with faculty.
• Advise students on academic planning and course selection.
• Develop and update syllabi, assessment tools, and instructional materials.

Required profile

• PhD (or ABD) in French and Francophone Studies or a closely related field.
• Minimum three years of relevant teaching or professional experience.
• Demonstrated ability to teach both language and literature courses.
• Experience integrating authentic cultural resources into language instruction.

Required skills

• Proficiency in French and knowledge of Francophone cultures.
• Curriculum design and syllabus development.
• Assessment creation and grading.
• Collaboration with academic colleagues.
