Leasing Consultant - Affordable Housing

About the role

Fairstead is a real estate firm focused on affordable housing, owning and managing more than 30,000 apartments across 28 states. Its Leasing Consultant supports the operations of an affordable housing community by helping prospective and current residents through the leasing process, acting as a point of contact for residents, applicants and the community.

Key responsibilities

• Answer enquiries, provide leasing information, make appointments, follow up on maintenance requests and handle or escalate resident complaints.
• Screen applicants and run eligibility appointments for affordable housing programs, gathering the paperwork needed to meet program criteria.
• Turn leads into community tours and conduct personalized tours that lead to new leases.
• Maintain communication with residents, applicants and prospects, coordinate lease applications and schedule move-ins.
• Prepare and execute lease agreements and move-in paperwork, and monitor lease renewals.
• Handle regulatory and compliance matters, respond to leads, and conduct property inspections.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Two years of experience as a leasing consultant at an affordable housing property.
• HUD/LIHTC and Section 8 experience required.
• Experience marketing rental listings through open houses and individual showings.
• Bilingual Spanish speaking is a plus.

Required skills

• Proven ability to manage leases for high-volume properties.
• Solid understanding of federal, state and local rental regulations and compliance.
• Expert knowledge of rental agreements.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Yardi Software and Realpage.
