Lead Safety Manager

About the role

The Lead Safety Manager will oversee safety processes across construction projects, ensuring standards are met and fostering an injury‑free environment. This senior role collaborates with foremen, superintendents, project engineers and managers to drive safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site inspections, safety assessments and intervene to resolve issues.
• Provide training and education on safety requirements and develop project safety programs.
• Lead incident, near‑miss and accident investigations, perform root‑cause analysis and report to leadership.
• Identify hazards, create mitigation plans and ensure compliance with company safety standards.
• Communicate project status to leadership and provide regular updates to the Safety Director.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred; CHST certification preferred.
• 12‑15 years of construction safety experience, including 6‑8 years on DOE projects.
• Experience managing at least three direct reports.
• Valid driver’s license, U.S. citizenship, and ability to pass background and drug screening.

Required skills

• OSHA 500 and 510 certifications (required).
• First Aid, CPR, AED instructor certification (or obtain within 6 months).
• Expertise in excavations, confined space entry, traffic control, respirable crystalline silica, rigging, heavy equipment operations and fall protection.
• Root cause analysis techniques (Blue Dragon, Fishbone, 6 whys, etc.).
