Lead Reactor Operations Engineer

About the role

Radiant is developing portable nuclear microreactors and seeks a Lead Reactor Operations Engineer to direct the team that ensures safe, efficient, and reliable reactor operations and commissioning for the Kaleidos reactor.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Reactor Operations Engineers, aligning technical priorities with test, commissioning, and operational milestones.
• Qualify as a Kaleidos Reactor Operator to gain hands‑on experience and validate team deliverables.
• Establish conduct of operations and fleet‑monitoring processes for Kaleidos reactors.
• Support development of control algorithms for semi‑autonomous or manual operations.
• Participate in design reviews and provide operations‑and‑maintenance feedback.
• Ensure all deliverables meet DOE and NRC standards and maintain high‑quality procedural documentation.
• Recruit, hire, and develop engineering talent as Radiant scales.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional engineering experience with system design, analysis, or testing.
• 2+ years in a formal or informal technical leadership role.
• Licensed Senior Reactor Operator or Naval equivalent.
• Experience with integrated reactor systems (nuclear, mechanical, I&C, electrical).
• Ability to apply first‑principles thinking in ambiguous situations.
• Background in highly regulated industries such as nuclear, aerospace, or maritime.
