Lead Python Engineer

About the role

Excella is looking for a Lead Python Engineer who will design and build high-quality software solutions for commercial and government clients while providing technical leadership and mentorship to team members. The role guides project execution in line with client needs and best practices, and requires effective communication and leadership within an Agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of software solutions for commercial and government clients using Python and frameworks such as Django, Flask or FastAPI.
• Mentor team members and provide technical guidance to foster their professional growth.
• Work closely with clients and stakeholders to align technical solutions with business objectives.
• Ensure best practices in coding, architecture and Agile methodologies are followed.
• Conduct code reviews and give constructive feedback to maintain high code quality.
• Advocate for emerging technologies and drive continuous improvement across teams and projects.

Required profile

• 6+ years of software development experience with a strong technical foundation.
• Experience leading teams and mentoring developers in a consulting or technical environment.
• Ability to explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Python and frameworks such as Django, Flask or FastAPI.
• Microservices architecture, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (Azure, AWS).
• RESTful API design and implementation, object-oriented methods, design patterns and testing.
• Database design, ORMs such as SQLAlchemy or Django, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Git-based workflows and secure programming practices.
• Preferred: DevOps and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Harness, GitLab CI/CD, AWS Lambda, Terraform), observability instrumentation, and GenAI tools such as GitHub Copilot.
