Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

Booz Allen Hamilton's team builds commercial-grade AI platforms and applications that support the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community, civilian agencies and commercial organizations, working at the intersection of cyber and AI. The Forward Deployed Engineer deploys and configures an enterprise defense against AI attackers, with precise alerts of agentic threats and extreme denial of AI capabilities. The role works directly with customers to understand their technical environments, implements containerized components and playbooks, and integrates with existing security tools.

Key responsibilities

• Deploy and configure an enterprise defense against AI attackers, with precise alerts of agentic threats and extreme denial of AI capabilities.
• Work directly with customers to understand their technical environments and implement containerized components and playbooks.
• Integrate with existing security tools and troubleshoot deployments.
• Validate system performance and help translate customer feedback into product and operational improvements.
• Play a leading role in forward deployed engineering activities that ensure successful integration of AI solutions with production settings.

Required profile

• 4+ years of experience designing, deploying and troubleshooting DevOps infrastructure across cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, GCP or on-premises environments.
• 4+ years of experience with container technologies such as Docker, container orchestration, virtual machines and Infrastructure-as-Code environments.
• 3+ years of experience with DevOps and automation platforms such as GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, ArgoCD or Flux.
• Experience designing, implementing and maintaining CI/CD workflows and DevOps automation platforms.
• Experience in front-facing or forward-deployed engineering roles.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time and to obtain a Secret clearance; applicants are subject to a security investigation.
• Bachelor's degree in CS or Engineering with 2+ years of software engineering experience, or 6+ years of software engineering experience in lieu of a degree.

Required skills

• Network and system troubleshooting across UNIX or Linux environments.
• Knowledge of Python, SDLC, Bash scripting and basic cybersecurity concepts.
• Nice to have: Kubernetes, continuous automation and deployment tools, and scripting languages such as Python and Linux shell scripts.
