Lead Operator – Wastewater

About the role

The City of Pearland is seeking a full‑time Lead Operator to oversee daily operations of its Wastewater Utilities division. This position combines hands‑on technical work with crew leadership in a fast‑paced municipal environment.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise crews performing inspection, operation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater pumping and treatment equipment.
• Operate and monitor the SCADA system for real‑time control of pumps, valves, and treatment processes.
• Ensure proper disinfectant/sterilization distribution to city water streams.
• Perform or coordinate repairs on lift pumps, blowers, reservoirs, automated valves, and related infrastructure.
• Coordinate wastewater collection, treatment, and discharge activities to meet regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Service‑oriented mindset with ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
• Valid TCEQ Water Operator license (Grade C, B, or A).
• Experience in municipal wastewater operations or similar utility setting.
• Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Operation of SCADA supervisory control and data acquisition systems.
• Knowledge of wastewater pumping, lift stations, and treatment processes.
• Experience with chemical control, disinfectant dosing, and water quality monitoring.
• Proficiency in maintaining lift pumps, blowers, reservoirs, and automated valves.
• Licensed TCEQ Water Operator (Grade C/B/A).
