Lead Operator – Wastewater

About the role

The City of Pearland is seeking a full‑time Lead Operator for its Wastewater division. This position oversees daily operations, leads a crew of skilled workers, and ensures reliable wastewater treatment and discharge processes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and participate in crew activities related to inspection, operation, maintenance, and repair of wastewater pumping, water treatment, chemical control, and monitoring equipment.
• Operate the Division’s SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) system to monitor and control processes.
• Ensure proper distribution of disinfectant or sterilization processes to the city’s navigable water streams.
• Perform or coordinate repairs on lift pumps, blowers, reservoirs, automated valves, and related equipment.
• Coordinate and conduct wastewater system projects and routine maintenance tasks.

Required profile

• Service‑oriented mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment.
• Valid TCEQ Water Operator license (Grade C, B, or A).
• Relevant experience in municipal wastewater operations and equipment maintenance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SCADA system operation.
• Knowledge of wastewater pumping, water treatment, chemical control, and monitoring equipment.
• Ability to repair lift pumps, blowers, reservoirs, and automated valves.
• Holding a TCEQ Water Operator license.
