Lead Network Engineer Specialist

About the role

The Lead Network Engineer Specialist independently manages major portions of complex network projects for DoD and mission‑critical environments, providing technical leadership and strategic planning.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement large‑scale network architectures, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
• Lead cross‑functional project teams, manage timelines, resources, and budgets, and serve as primary point of contact for stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards (NIST 800‑171, RMF) and implement advanced security measures such as zero‑trust and intrusion prevention.
• Develop documentation, reports, and technical standards for network operations.
• Mentor junior engineers and conduct training sessions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 6+ years of relevant networking experience, including 4+ years in a lead role.
• Secret clearance required; ability to obtain TS/SCI.
• Proven experience with DoD networks, DISA CCSD circuit provisioning, and deployable communications systems.

Required skills

• Advanced networking concepts: TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP.
• Network security tools: firewalls, IPS, zero‑trust architectures, HAIPE/TACLANE devices.
• Monitoring and troubleshooting: SolarWinds, Wireshark.
• Virtualization: VMware, RHEL, Windows Server.
• Certifications: Security+, CCNP (preferred), CISSP (preferred).
• Scripting/automation: Python, Ansible.
