Lead Data Scientist

About the role

The Home Depot Store Support Center is looking for a Lead Data Scientist to lead data science initiatives that drive business profitability, efficiency and customer experience. The role helps build the advanced analytics infrastructure that informs decision making, applies both business and advanced analytics modeling expertise, and owns a library of reusable algorithms. Depending on the team, expertise lies in one or more areas such as optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search or NLP.

Key responsibilities

• Solution development: design and develop algorithms and models for large datasets, choose and interpret advanced analytics methods, and communicate insights to technical and non-technical leaders
• Project management and team support: lead large, complex projects, mentor junior colleagues, distribute workload, support recruiting and act as a technical subject matter expert
• Business collaboration: build trust with internal customers and cross-functional teams, educate the data science community, partner with IT on new tools and find new business uses for data science
• Technical exploration: attend conferences, publish papers, define best practices, document code and models, and develop prescriptive modeling expertise
• Lead data science communities across several business units

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• Demonstrated expertise in predictive modeling, data mining and data analysis
• Ability to use statistical techniques to turn data into business insights
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field

Required skills

• Preferred: 10+ years in business intelligence and analytics
• Preferred: modern scripting language (Python), query languages (Google BigQuery or SQL), Microsoft Office Suite, data visualization (Tableau)
• Preferred: prescriptive modeling such as optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search or NLP
