Lead Data Scientist

About the role

The Home Depot Store Support Center is looking for a Lead Data Scientist to lead data science initiatives that drive business profitability, efficiency and customer experience. The role helps build the advanced analytics infrastructure that informs decision making, applies both business and advanced analytics modeling expertise, and owns a library of reusable algorithms. Depending on the team, expertise lies in one or more areas such as optimization, computer vision, recommendation, search or NLP.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop algorithms and models for large datasets, select and interpret advanced analytics methods, and communicate insights to technical and non-technical leaders
• Lead large, complex projects and teams, set priorities, mentor junior members, distribute workload and support recruiting and hiring
• Serve as a technical subject matter expert and lead data science communities across several business units
• Build trust with internal customers and cross-functional teams, partner with IT on new tools, and seek new business opportunities for data science
• Keep up with developments through conferences and publications, define best practices, document code and models, and develop replicable solutions for future use

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• Demonstrated expertise in predictive modeling, data mining and data analysis
• Ability to use statistical techniques to turn data into business insights
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field; preferred: PhD in a quantitative field or 10+ years in business intelligence and analytics
• Reports to a manager or above; no direct reports
