Lead Custodian – Full‑Time Position

About the role

The Lead Custodian provides routine and special custodial, janitorial, and maintenance services for County facilities, ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient environment. This full‑time position works 32 hours per week with benefits and an annual salary of $39,365.

Key responsibilities

• Perform interior cleaning tasks such as mopping, sweeping, stripping, waxing, polishing, shampooing, buffing, and vacuuming floors and carpets.
• Operate manual and mechanical equipment including buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, vacuums, push lawn mowers, line trimmers, and pressure washers.
• Maintain restroom cleanliness, replenish supplies, and manage waste disposal.
• Perform exterior duties like cleaning windows and maintaining refuse containers.
• Provide building security by opening/closing doors, locking windows, and controlling lighting.
• Assist maintenance staff with room set‑up, furniture moves, and flag handling.

Required profile

• At least one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial or institutional setting.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation.
• Physical ability to lift 50 lb regularly and work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Required skills

• Knowledge of cleaning materials, methods, equipment, and safety procedures.
• Ability to operate motorized cleaning equipment (buffers, floor scrubbers, carpet shampooers, etc.).
• Basic computer skills for typing and emailing.
