Lead AV Installation Technician

About the role

We are the contractor of choice for residential system integration services with several local and regional home builders in the Northern Virginia area. Technicians will have broad responsibility to install home theatre systems and service residential security alarm systems.

Key responsibilities

• Pull, terminate and test low‑voltage cabling (Category, Fiber, Speaker, Lutron).
• Mount devices at the ends of those wires (AV, Network, Control, Lighting, Shading).
• Build and lace equipment racks.
• Advanced setup and configuration of devices.
• Apply advanced understanding of networks.
• Troubleshoot AV and networking devices.
• Activate and configure residential security alarm systems.
• Lead and guide fellow technicians to deliver high‑quality projects.
• Programming (a plus).
• Client communication, support, and training.
• Pass a background check to obtain a Virginia DCJS license.

Required profile

• Trustworthy individual with a pleasant disposition and high emotional intelligence.
• Hungry to learn, grow, and take initiative.
• Hands‑on, prefers field work over desk work.
• Technically inclined, capable of leading teams and curious about how things work.
• Experience on construction sites with a steady work history (minimum 3 years).
• Ability to climb ladders, pull cabling, and use power and hand tools.

Required skills

• Low‑voltage cabling (Category, Fiber, Speaker, Lutron).
• Device mounting for AV, network, control, lighting, and shading systems.
• Equipment rack assembly and lacing.
• Device setup and configuration.
• Network fundamentals and troubleshooting.
• Residential security alarm system configuration.
• Knowledge of Control4 and Lutron products (a plus).
• Basic programming skills (a plus).
