Lead Audio Engineer

About the role

Lead the complete audio system for a groundbreaking wearable that reads neural signals. You will own everything from microphone array design to spatial speaker output, working closely with hardware, firmware and product teams.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the end‑to‑end audio chain: microphone selection, DSP pipeline, beamforming, AEC, noise suppression, wake‑word detection and spatial speaker output.
• Drive component selection and benchmarking across microphones, audio DSPs, AFEs, Class‑D amplifiers and speakers, including second‑source planning.
• Specify electrical and acoustic interfaces, partner with EE and firmware leads on layout and runtime hosting.
• Validate direction‑of‑arrival accuracy, speech enhancement in noise and wind robustness for realistic wear scenarios.
• Define wake‑word strategy, manage data collection, on‑device engine and performance budgets.

Required profile

• 10+ years of audio engineering experience with at least one consumer product shipped that included a multi‑microphone voice system.
• Deep expertise in voice DSP techniques such as beamforming, AEC, noise suppression and direction‑of‑arrival estimation.
• Proven track record delivering wake‑word or always‑on voice activation at consumer scale.
• Experience designing real‑time DSP pipelines on constrained MCUs.
