Laboratory Technician – Rapid Prototyping & Design Center

About the role

This position is based in the 3M Rapid Prototyping and Design Center within the Corporate Research Process Laboratory. You will work on cutting‑edge additive manufacturing projects, supporting internal customers with fast‑turnaround prototype parts.

Key responsibilities

• Operate a variety of 3D printing and additive manufacturing equipment to produce quality prototype parts.
• Manage post‑processing operations for different printing technologies.
• Collaborate with team members to fulfill internal customer requests with rapid turnaround.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED (or higher) completed and verified prior to start.
• At least one combined year of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing/production, or pilot‑plant environment.
• Associate’s degree is a plus.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of additive manufacturing processes such as FDM, SLS, and MJF.
• Experience with post‑processing of printed parts.
• Ability to set up, run, monitor, and safely shut down 3D printers.
• Basic experience with CAD and slicing software.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
