Laboratory Technician (Level I‑III) – Zachry Design Center

About the role

The Zachry Design Center at Texas A&M Engineering is seeking a full‑time Laboratory Technician (Level I, II, or III) to support academic projects, teaching, and research activities in Zachry Labs. The role involves hands‑on work with students, operating and maintaining a variety of shop equipment, and ensuring a safe, productive lab environment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain welding stations, CNC mills, CNC lathes, water‑jet cutters, and wire EDM machines.
• Assist faculty and students with fabrication and machining tasks.
• Teach and mentor students of varying skill levels in welding and basic shop techniques.
• Perform routine equipment inspections, calibrations, and basic maintenance.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support research and instructional needs.

Required profile

• Technician I: High school diploma (or equivalent) and at least 2 years of related experience.
• Technician II: High school diploma (or equivalent) and at least 3 years of related experience.
• Technician III: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong ability to multitask and interact effectively with students.
