Laboratory Technician – Central Accessioning

About the role

The Georgia Department of Public Health is seeking a Laboratory Technician for its Central Accessioning Laboratory. Working under broad supervision, you will ensure that specimens are processed accurately and efficiently, supporting the state’s public‑health mission.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, sort, open, and accession laboratory specimens from mailing containers.
• Process specimens in accordance with established protocols, preparing them for downstream testing.
• Handle samples within a Biosafety Cabinet while following all safety and contamination‑prevention procedures.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant laboratory environment and equipment.
• Manage workflow in assigned Accessioning Units to meet daily processing timelines.
• Verify patient identifiers on specimens against accompanying documentation.
