About the role
The Georgia Department of Public Health is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor to lead its Newborn Screening program within the Division of Health Protection, Public Health Laboratory. This grant‑funded position ensures accurate, timely testing for newborns while maintaining compliance with federal regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Supervise laboratory staff in accordance with CLIA (1988) guidelines.
- Oversee safety procedures, inventory management, and technical operations.
- Review laboratory testing reports for validity and accuracy.
- Maintain and revise laboratory procedure manuals.
- Serve as the laboratory liaison for the OZ electronic ordering project, converting manual orders to electronic format.
- Perform technical duties as needed and work occasional Saturdays or holidays.
Required profile
- Highly qualified candidate with experience supervising a clinical laboratory.
- Knowledge of CLIA regulations and laboratory safety standards.
- Ability to manage personnel, inventory, and documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to public‑health outcomes.
Required skills
- Experience with the OZ electronic ordering system.
- Proficiency in CLIA compliance and laboratory safety procedures.
