Laboratory Supervisor

About the role

Asahi Kasei Plastics North America is seeking a self‑directed Laboratory Supervisor to lead a team of laboratory technicians. The role ensures accurate, impartial test results for a variety of molded plastic products used in automotive, consumer, electronics, furniture, and industrial applications.

Key responsibilities

• Manage laboratory resources to meet demand and ensure timely delivery of results.
• Hire, train, and develop laboratory staff.
• Resolve testing non‑conformities and coordinate technical work requests at the Athens site.
• Maintain compliance with lean, ethical, and regulatory standards including IATF 16949, ISO 17025, and ISO 14001.
• Drive continuous improvement through periodic assessments.

Required profile

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in STEM or Plastics Processing.
• Minimum five years of laboratory experience, preferably with supervisory responsibilities.
• Willingness to travel 10‑15% domestically for training and ongoing activities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Knowledge of ASTM and ISO testing standards.
• Experience with good laboratory practices, equipment maintenance, and calibration.
• Familiarity with SAP ERP (preferred).
