Laboratory Manager – BSL‑2 Facility

About the role

The Laboratory Manager will lead the set‑up, operation and maintenance of a Biosafety Level 2 (BSL‑2) laboratory at Texas A&M University’s College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. The role supports both teaching and research activities by providing reliable molecular diagnostic testing of infectious pathogens in animal and environmental samples.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the procurement, distribution and upkeep of laboratory supplies, equipment and workflows.
• Establish and manage the BSL‑2 laboratory to meet biosafety and regulatory standards.
• Oversee molecular diagnostic testing processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Provide high‑quality technical support to faculty, students and research collaborators.
• Maintain documentation and safety records in accordance with university policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Experience managing laboratory operations, preferably in a BSL‑2 environment.

Required skills

• Biosafety Level 2 laboratory management.
• Molecular diagnostic testing techniques.
• Laboratory equipment maintenance and calibration.

What we offer

• Starting salary of $60,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
