About the role
The Laboratory Assistant supports the Blood Bank at Florida Weston Hospital, processing specimens and performing waived laboratory tests. You will work variable shifts, contributing to a high‑volume environment that conducts over 20 million tests annually.
Key responsibilities
- Receive, identify, accession, process, transport, and store specimens.
- Operate laboratory equipment, perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot, and conduct minor repairs.
- Execute quality‑assurance activities and maintain accurate documentation.
- Manage inventory of supplies, ensuring adequate stock and proper distribution.
Required profile
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Completion of at least three months of on‑the‑job training in laboratory procedures and Cleveland Clinic policies.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast‑paced, stressful environment.
- Critical thinking and decisive judgment.
Required skills
- Specimen accessioning and handling.
- Operation and basic maintenance of laboratory instrumentation.
- Quality‑assurance testing procedures.
- Inventory management of laboratory supplies.
