Laboratory Aide 3

About the role

The Georgia Department of Public Health is seeking a Laboratory Aide 3 to support daily specimen processing in a fast‑paced public health laboratory. You will play a critical part in ensuring that specimens are accurately received, logged, and prepared for testing, helping protect the health of Georgia residents.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, sort, open, and remove specimens from mailing containers and bags.
• Match patient identifiers on specimens with requisition forms and flag any discrepancies.
• Visually inspect specimens for damage, leaks, or labeling issues and record problems in the logbook.
• Affix accession numbers to specimens and accompanying forms, and perform spot checks of barcodes.
• Maintain quality‑assurance documentation and specimen accountability throughout the accessioning process.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage high volumes of specimens.
• Effective communication to report discrepancies promptly to supervisors.
• Ability to work reliably in a team‑oriented, fast‑moving environment.
