Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse - Onsite, Misawa Japan

About the role

Arcetyp LLC, a small consulting firm serving US Federal Government, US Military and commercial clients, is recruiting a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse for an onsite position at Misawa Japan AFB. The position is full-time and requires a US citizen who can pass background checks.

Key responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to routine and high-risk obstetrical patients and newborns in antepartum, labor and delivery, postpartum, neonatal/nursery and triage settings
• Develop nursing care plans, clinical pathways and standing orders, and make patient care assignments
• Perform sterile vaginal and speculum exams, electronic fetal monitoring, tocometry and other diagnostic procedures
• Provide critical and emergency care, including recovery care after C-sections, cerclage, tubal ligations and pregnancy loss
• Set up and operate equipment such as IV/PCA pumps, fetal and cardiac monitors, EKG units, oxygen equipment and nebulizers
• Administer medications, IV therapy, blood products and complex infusions
• Educate patients and families, participate in discharge planning and act as patient advocate
• Document care accurately and timely in MHS GENESIS and take part in rounds, quality improvement and medical readiness activities

Required profile

• Bachelor's or associate degree in nursing or an accredited diploma; at least 2 years of inpatient labor and delivery experience in the last 5 years; 1 year of postpartum and newborn nursery experience highly desired
• Certifications: ALS, BLS, NRP, Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring, and an EFM certification (AWHONN, GE Healthcare or NCC); ECO, STABLE and ALSO are preferred
• Current unrestricted RN license in good standing, no sanctions, and a valid driver's license
• Fluent English, able to pass background checks, and must obtain DHA competencies and base command training within 60-90 days of start
• Preferred: ACOG reference level experience, understanding of military life, active security clearance
