Lab Technician - Biology

About the role

The Davidi Lab at Northeastern University seeks a motivated Laboratory Technician to support research on stress adaptation in extremophilic microalgae. The role involves hands‑on experimentation, data recording, and occasional independent project work.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct experiments to meet project goals, including DNA/RNA purification, PCR, cloning, protein expression and Western blotting.
• Maintain a clean, safe laboratory environment and keep detailed records of all procedures.
• Order reagents, prepare media solutions, and use sterile techniques.
• Present research updates at monthly lab meetings and train less‑experienced personnel.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology or Biochemistry (Master’s preferred); GPA ≥ 3.7 recommended.
• Strong communication, organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Required skills

• DNA and RNA purification
• PCR and molecular cloning design
• Miniprep and plasmid preparation
• Protein expression, purification and Western blotting
• Experience with microalgae or plant systems
• Familiarity with transcriptomics and proteomics workflows
