Lab Assistant, StaffFlex Contract

About the role

AdventHealth in Denver is hiring a Lab Assistant on a StaffFlex contract for 13 weeks, Monday to Friday, full time. The position pays $52.92 per hour and has no on-call duty. Training runs 8am to 4:30pm, then roughly 10am to 6:30pm once trained.

Key responsibilities

• Collect venous, capillary, urine drug screen, swab or other specimens, making sure they are identified and typed correctly.
• Centrifuge, aliquot and distribute samples to the right testing areas, including loading them onto analyzers.
• Generate and report waived and moderate-complexity test results under supervision.
• Operate, maintain and troubleshoot testing equipment and processes, documenting activities as required.
• Monitor test system performance and take corrective action, using critical thinking to interpret data.
• Support compliance with laboratory accreditation and regulatory requirements.
• Review laboratory information system reports so samples are collected, processed and tested on time.
• Handle inquiries and complaints about laboratory services, and communicate critical results to coworkers, providers and other departments.
• Oversee day-to-day work of department associates on assigned shifts and coordinate training and competency assessments for new associates and students.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Previous clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• NHA, NPCE or ASPT certified phlebotomy technician, or MLA-ASCP, or Basic Life Support certification preferred.

Required skills

• Organizational, verbal, interpersonal and customer relations skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and follow verbal ones.
• Manual keyboarding and computer literacy.
