Lab Assistant – CSR – Jeff HWY (weekends & holidays)

About the role

The Laboratory Assistant supports the clinical laboratory by performing specimen collection, processing, and basic testing. The position includes rotating weekend and holiday shifts on Jeff Highway and works closely with a compassionate, inclusive team to deliver exceptional patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Collect blood and other specimens, perform phlebotomy, and ensure proper labeling.
• Receive, process, and enter specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), including centrifugation, aliquoting, and distribution to test sites.
• Execute waived and moderately complex laboratory procedures, maintain equipment, and conduct quality‑control checks.
• Order, inventory, and stock laboratory supplies while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; formal phlebotomy training preferred.
• Experience in a controlled environment with knowledge of safety measures for chemicals, body fluids, and blood‑borne pathogens.
• Current Louisiana Laboratory Assistant (or Trainee) license; must obtain full license within 180 days of hire.
• Ability to work independently, manage stress, and communicate professionally with patients and staff.

• Accurate data entry and basic math calculations.
