K-8 Teacher

About the role

The Roger Bacon Academy seeks passionate educators to teach grades K‑8 at Classical Charter Schools of Whiteville. This full‑time position offers the opportunity to work with a supportive team, including a Beginning Teacher Coordinator and Academic Coaches, using a research‑based Direct Instruction curriculum.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver daily lessons using Classical Direct Instruction, adhering to curriculum pacing and goals.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly classroom environment.
• Assess student work promptly, provide honest feedback, and offer tutoring as needed.
• Enter student progress data and follow prescribed assessments and benchmarking.
• Communicate regularly with parents about academic progress and involve them when appropriate.
• Supervise teacher assistants and participate in grade‑level, staff, and committee meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in education with a valid North Carolina teaching certificate for the applicable grade level, or a related degree with a lateral entry plan.
• Ability to teach a large, diverse class and remain on feet throughout the day.
• Physical ability to lift/carry 20 lb and perform classroom duties.
• Coursework in Applied Behavior Analysis, Probability and Statistics, Algebra, or subject‑area specialties is highly desirable.
