K-8 Teacher for Classical Charter School

About the role

The Roger Bacon Academy seeks passionate educators to teach K-8 students using a Direct Instruction curriculum. Candidates must hold a degree in Education and a North Carolina teaching certificate.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver classroom instruction using Classical Direct Instruction methods, beginning and ending lessons on schedule.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly classroom environment.
• Assess student work honestly, provide timely feedback, and tutor those needing extra help.
• Enter student progress data promptly and follow prescribed assessments and pacing guides.
• Collaborate with Academic Coaches, Deans, and Lead Teachers for guidance and professional development.
• Communicate regularly with parents about academic progress and involve them when appropriate.
• Supervise teacher assistants and participate in grade‑level and staff meetings.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Education and a valid North Carolina teaching certificate (or eligibility for lateral entry).
• Ability to teach a large, diverse class and remain on feet throughout the day.
• Physical capacity to lift/carry up to 20 lb.
• Desire to continuously improve teaching practice and support student growth.
