About the role

Join the Department of Juvenile Justice in Georgia as a Juvenile Probation/Parole Specialist II. You will provide social services that support the rehabilitation of youth offenders, helping them meet court‑ordered conditions and successfully reintegrate into the community.

Key responsibilities

• Interview probationers and parolees regularly to evaluate progress and compliance with rehabilitation plans.
• Recommend remedial or court action when terms of probation or parole are not met.
• Administer drug and alcohol testing, including random screens, to verify treatment program compliance.
• Prepare and maintain comprehensive case files for each assigned youth offender.
• Discuss how substance abuse, anger management, and other issues may relate to criminal behavior.
• Conduct pre‑hearing investigations, testify in court, and recommend sentencing conditions.
• Inform offenders of conditional release requirements such as restitution, education, and employment stipulations.
• Write detailed progress reports and arrange medical, mental health, or substance‑abuse treatment as needed.
• Supervise community‑based sentences, including electronic monitoring and field visits to homes, schools, or workplaces.

Required profile

• Ability to meet agency‑established physical agility standards and pass a validated assessment.
• Capacity to work under general supervision while delivering social services to youth offenders.
