About the role
The State of Georgia is seeking a dedicated Juvenile Probation & Parole Specialist (Level 2) to join the Liberty Community Service Office in Hinesville. Under general supervision, you will provide social services that support the rehabilitation of youth offenders, both in custody and on probation.
Key responsibilities
- Interview probationers and parolees regularly to evaluate progress toward goals and compliance with court‑ordered plans.
- Recommend remedial actions or initiate court proceedings when terms of probation or parole are violated.
- Administer drug and alcohol testing, including random screenings, to verify treatment program compliance.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive case files for each assigned offender.
- Conduct pre‑hearing investigations, testify in court, and recommend sentencing conditions.
- Provide counseling on substance‑abuse, anger management, and other factors influencing criminal behavior.
- Arrange medical, mental‑health, or substance‑abuse treatment services as required.
- Supervise community‑based sentences, perform curfew checks, and conduct home, work, or school visits.
Required profile
- Associate degree in a related field with two years of relevant human‑services experience, or four years of direct case‑management experience with offenders.
- Or two years of experience at the lower‑level Juvenile Probation/Parole Specialist 1 position.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently under general supervision.
Required skills
- Conducting drug and alcohol testing, including random screens.
- Preparing detailed case reports and documentation.
- Investigating legal and behavioral issues related to juvenile offenders.
- Providing counseling and coordinating treatment services.
- Supervising community‑based sentencing conditions.
