About the role

The Iowa Judicial Branch is seeking a dedicated Juvenile Court Officer 1 to join the Black Hawk County Juvenile Court Services team in Waterloo. This entry‑level position provides hands‑on experience in juvenile justice, case management, and court processes.

Key responsibilities

• Handle delinquent youth matters under Iowa Code Chapter 232, including intake, diversion, supervision, and prevention.
• Make detention and custody recommendations, conduct pre‑dispositional investigations, and prepare court reports.
• Testify in court regarding recommendations and case findings.
• Supervise probation, motivate youth and families, and coordinate services with multiple agencies.
• Respond to emergency matters outside normal working hours.
• Learn and operate the statewide Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).
• Occasionally travel to other counties within the district as needed.
