Junior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

CACI is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to support its customer at NSWC Crane. The position is full time, requires a Secret-level security clearance and involves up to 10% travel within the continental US.

Key responsibilities

• Provide engineering services support including specification writing, mechanical calculations, outfitting design, marine drawing, work item development, SRD updates, cost estimates, ship checks and other technical documents prepared to drawing standards and good engineering practice.
• Generate mechanical drawings for mechanical systems and outfitting, and draft detailed multi-view drawings of systems, machinery spaces, assemblies and products.
• Draw finished designs from sketches using solid models and layouts, and other ship references for installation and removal.

Required profile

• BSME, BSCE, BSAE or BSNA/ME degree from an ABET-accredited university.
• Experience with US Navy and/or US commercial ship design standards.
• Ability to write clear reports, specifications and white and point papers with minimal oversight.
• Good verbal communication skills and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
• Must be a US citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance; active DOD Secret clearance is desired.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint, including machinery arrangements and piping takeoffs.
• Ability to create CAD system models and machinery arrangements in AutoCAD.
• Teamwork with other engineering disciplines and ability to work independently on projects.
