Junior Estimator / Project Engineer

About the role

Doug Egner Plumbing & Medical Gas, LLC is seeking a motivated Junior Estimator / Project Engineer to join their growing team. This entry‑level position offers hands‑on experience in commercial plumbing, medical gas, estimating and construction project management.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with reviewing project plans, specifications, drawings and contract documents to understand scope.
• Perform quantity takeoffs for plumbing, medical‑gas materials and other components.
• Help obtain and analyze pricing for materials, equipment and project costs.
• Prepare detailed estimates, bid proposals and supporting documentation.
• Conduct job‑site visits as needed to gather field information.
• Maintain organized estimating files, historical pricing and project records.
• Track project costs, submittals, RFIs, change orders and procurement documentation.
• Utilize Procore and other company systems to keep accurate project and estimating data.

Required profile

• Strong attention to detail, organized and eager to learn.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and technical documents.
• Comfortable working with numbers, measurements, spreadsheets and detailed project information.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; willingness to travel to project sites.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Outlook.
• Experience or familiarity with Procore or similar construction management software.
• Ability to perform quantity takeoffs and read construction plans.
