Junior Electrical Engineer

About the role

Amentum is looking for an energetic, goal-oriented Junior Electrical Engineer for its Hanover, Maryland office. The engineer handles a variety of engineering tasks from initial planning through final design on projects of advanced complexity, under the supervision of a Supervising Electrical Engineer. The role involves working with other disciplines, project support groups, vendors and client representatives.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate and develop engineering calculations, studies and drawings through completion
• Work in conformance with project requirements, applicable codes and design criteria
• Interact with other disciplines, project support groups, vendors and clients as needed

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from a 4-year ABET-accredited college or university
• At least 1 year of electrical engineering experience doing calculations, analyses and design document development
• US citizen, no dual citizenship, eligible for DoD TS//SCI clearance and access to DoD facilities
• Excellent oral communication and technical writing skills
• Position may require travel; no relocation benefits

Required skills

• Power system analysis: load flow, voltage drop, short circuit calculations
• Developing electrical one-line, schematic and wiring diagrams
• Sizing electrical equipment
• Basic understanding of power system analysis, lighting, power and control, grounding and lightning protection
• Proficiency in 2D AutoCAD
• Preferred: DOE/DOD/Army Corps of Engineers experience, communications and security systems, BIM, Revit, SKM and etap
