Job description
About the role
In the Structural Engineer / Stress Analyst position you will work in a fast‑paced environment and perform structural analysis using hand calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) on a wide variety of highly loaded subsea structures such as ROV frames, mechanisms, pressure vessels, ship over‑boarding equipment, and advanced development projects. You will collaborate with designer engineers from a program’s initial stages through structural testing and completion, influence load paths, and ensure structural integrity. The work spans static and dynamic studies, including linear and non‑linear analysis, transient shock, fatigue, fracture, bolt and weld analysis, load test definition, DDAM, and documentation.
Key responsibilities
- Develop load cases and quantify loads for primary and secondary structures.
- Perform initial sizing of conceptual structures.
- Conduct static analysis using industry‑standard methods (Bruhn, Roark, Shigley).
- Execute stress analysis by developing, solving, and post‑processing large FEA models using ANSYS.
- Translate complex systems into simplified FEA models.
- Participate in design reviews.
- Document analysis results thoroughly.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required profile
- U.S. citizen with ability to obtain a security clearance; Top Secret/SCI with CI poly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET‑accredited program (experience may substitute for degree).
- 15+ years of experience in stress analysis.
- Strong written communication skills for technical reports and requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Required skills
- Proficiency with ANSYS (preferred) and NASTRAN or similar FEA tools.
- Experience with 3D CAD platforms, preferably SolidWorks.
- Expertise in static, dynamic, nonlinear contact, stability, vibration, frequency‑response, transient shock, DDAM, bolt, weld, fatigue, fracture, structural optimization, and pressure‑vessel analysis.
- Ability to perform hand calculations and classical analytical methods (Bruhn, Roark, Shigley).
What we offer
- Comprehensive and competitive benefits package, including health and wellness, mental health support, retirement savings, life and disability coverage, paid maternity and parental leave, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and an employee assistance program.
- Compensation range from $109,800 to $164,600 per year.
