Building Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Town of Hanover is seeking a reliable Building Maintenance Technician to keep municipal facilities safe, functional, and welcoming. You will work across multiple town buildings, applying a broad range of trade skills in a hands‑on, team‑oriented environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair HVAC systems.
• Install, maintain, and repair plumbing systems, including unclogging drains and fixing leaks.
• Service electrical systems, replace bulbs and ballasts.
• Perform carpentry tasks such as framing, finish work, and sheetrock installation/repair.
• Install and repair roofing and perform interior/exterior painting.
• Purchase materials and supplies as needed.
• Sweep and scrub parking garages and clean parking lot drains.
• Execute additional building and facility maintenance duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Knowledge of standard building maintenance practices, methods, materials, and tools.
• Understanding of plumbing, electrical, and HVAC maintenance principles.
• Familiarity with general carpentry practices.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools and safe work practices.
• Strong planning, prioritization, and interpersonal communication skills.
