IT Systems Engineer II

About the role

The IT Systems Engineer II at Impulse Space designs, implements and optimizes infrastructure platforms that support engineering, manufacturing and corporate operations. The engineer independently delivers complex infrastructure solutions and owns core platform areas across hybrid datacenter and cloud environments, moving beyond implementation into solution design, automation and long-term platform improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement infrastructure solutions aligned with architectural standards, and own platforms such as virtualization, identity, storage or cloud services.
• Lead complex deployments, upgrades and migrations, and engineer highly available, resilient systems.
• Evaluate performance and capacity, develop standardized configurations and improve consistency across environments.
• Build automation for provisioning, configuration and lifecycle management, and reusable scripts and tooling.
• Lead resolution of complex infrastructure incidents, perform deep technical analysis and implement improvements that prevent recurrence.
• Design solutions aligned with cybersecurity and regulatory requirements, implement secure baselines and identity controls, and support audit readiness.
• Guide administrators and junior engineers, collaborate with network, security and application teams, and contribute to engineering standards and the infrastructure roadmap.

Required profile

• 6+ years implementing and supporting enterprise infrastructure, with independent design experience.
• Advanced Windows Server administration and working proficiency with Linux.
• Experience with virtualization environments, troubleshooting complex multi-system issues and understanding of networking fundamentals.
• Preferred: 8+ years, engineering/manufacturing/lab infrastructure, on-premises to cloud integration, enterprise storage, infrastructure-as-code, and regulated environments.

Required skills

• Strong automation and scripting, with PowerShell required.
• Infrastructure-as-code and configuration management tooling (preferred).

• Pay of $150,000 - $185,000 per year, depending on role, level, location and skills.
