IT Financial Planner

About the role

ClearCaptions, LLC is looking for an experienced IT Financial Planner to manage financial planning, forecasting and reporting for technology systems and infrastructure. The role is full-time and remote, based in the United States, and involves working with IT, Finance and business leaders on cost models, technology spending evaluation and investment decisions for cloud computing, AI/ML, machine learning and SaaS platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, forecast and monitor expenditures for technology systems, infrastructure and platforms
• Develop financial models and forecasts for IT projects, including implementation, licensing and ongoing operating costs
• Analyse cloud usage, vendor invoices, contracts and pricing to find savings and financial risks
• Manage FinOps activities: cost allocation, tagging governance, budget monitoring and reporting for cloud and AI platforms
• Forecast AI/ML expenses such as API usage, GPU computing, model hosting and third-party platform costs
• Prepare financial reports, budget variance analyses and technology spending updates for senior management
• Support annual IT budgeting and multi-year technology forecasting
• Maintain and improve financial planning tools, reporting systems and cost models
• Review vendor contracts and pricing agreements, and support technology projects from planning to implementation

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems or a related field
• At least 5 years of experience in financial forecasting, corporate finance and data analysis, preferably in an IT or technology organisation
• Experience in IT, technology or telecommunications is strongly preferred
• Ability to work independently and remotely, with up to 5% travel when necessary

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, lookup functions, Power Query)
• Knowledge of NPV, IRR, payback analysis, TCO, CAPEX and OPEX
• Familiarity with databases and financial software
• Understanding of cloud computing, AI/ML platforms, SaaS and technology infrastructure
• Use of tools such as AWS Cost Explorer to analyse billing and usage data
