IT Engineer (Cloud, Security & Automation)

About the role

Ethos, a life insurance technology company, is hiring an IT Engineer for a remote US position. You will lead the design and evolution of a cloud-first IT environment, building scalable, secure and efficient systems that support the whole organization. You will partner with cross-functional teams to implement modern IT solutions, strengthen security posture and drive operational excellence through automation.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and manage a fully cloud-based IT environment across SaaS platforms, with high availability, scalability and security
• Apply a security-first mindset to strengthen access controls, device posture and risk mitigation
• Identify and implement automation to remove manual workflows and improve efficiency
• Lead cross-functional IT projects from planning to execution and act as a technical leader and mentor
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and deliver scalable IT solutions
• Evaluate and implement new tools and technologies, including AI-powered agents and bots for workflow automation
• Build documentation, runbooks and standards, and oversee email and collaboration platforms (Google Workspace, Proofpoint)
• Handle escalated support tickets and support new hire onboarding (up to 20% of time)

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in IT engineering, systems administration or a related role in a cloud-first environment
• Proven experience managing and supporting SaaS-based IT infrastructure at scale
• Experience managing macOS and Windows endpoints in a modern device management environment
• Experience mentoring junior team members and acting as a technical leader

Required skills

• Google Workspace administration, including Gmail routing, security and deliverability
• Email security platforms such as Proofpoint (or equivalent)
• Slack, Okta, Jamf, Intune and other endpoint management tools
• Zero Trust Network Access or modern network security approaches
• Automation with scripting or tools such as Python, Bash and APIs
• Root cause analysis and troubleshooting
• AI orchestration or agent platforms is a plus

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $91,000 - $161,000, depending on location and experience.
