Investor, Early Stage Team

About the role

Lowercarbon Capital is seeking an investor to join its early‑stage team, focusing on identifying and supporting founders tackling the toughest climate‑related challenges. You will engage directly with founders, technical experts, and customers to shape investment decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and map emerging companies in energy, critical minerals, manufacturing, and heavy industry before they become widely known.
• Lead end‑to‑end diligence, formulate key investment questions, prioritize risks, and gather information that influences conviction.
• Translate complex technical and operational data into clear investment memos, market maps, and occasional public blog posts.
• Develop deep domain expertise in emerging thematic areas to guide future investment focus.

Required profile

• Early‑career professional (often titled “Associate”) with strong judgment, hustle, and ability to reason about frontier technology.
• At least a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent practical experience in scale‑up, deployment, or operations of physical‑world companies.
• Comfortable forming judgments with incomplete information and explaining complex concepts simply.

Required skills

• Technical fluency across engineering, materials science, chemistry, geology, or related fields.
• Strong research ability, clear written communication for internal and external audiences.
• Detail‑oriented project management, capable of juggling multiple initiatives simultaneously.

What we offer

• Base salary $180,000–$230,000 plus bonus, carried interest, and benefits.
