Investment Accounting Manager - Alternative Investments

About the role

MassMutual is hiring an Investment Accounting Manager for its Alternative Investments team, within the Investment Controllership of the Controllers Organization. It is a full-time, individual contributor role based in Boston or Springfield, Massachusetts. The position sits in a highly dynamic accounting environment and works closely with Investment Management.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in the monthly, quarterly and annual close cycles.
• Identify and implement accounting improvements that increase the business value and efficiency of the team.
• Initiate and lead continuous improvement activities, and help solve problems to improve quality, cycle times and employee engagement.
• Make recommendations to improve the control environment of the team.
• Help implement the company's new ledger.
• Analyze financial data sets and report on them, and work with business partners on investment activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related major.
• Minimum 6 years of related work experience, including financial reporting on alternative investments.
• Ideal: 8+ years of experience, CPA preferred, Master's degree preferred.

Required skills

• Strong analytical skills and proven ability to finish high-quality work efficiently.
• Experience analyzing new investments and accounting guidance.
• Experience with system implementations preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with leadership, staff and regulators.
