Investigator – Medicaid Fraud

About the role

The Office of the Attorney General’s Medicaid Fraud Division is seeking an Investigator to conduct health‑care fraud and patient‑abuse investigations across the state of Georgia. This full‑time position supports prosecutors by gathering evidence, executing search warrants, and providing courtroom testimony.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct on‑site investigations, including interviews, document review, and execution of search warrants to collect evidence of Medicaid fraud and patient abuse.
• Analyze medical billing records, financial data, and public databases to identify fraudulent activity and potential assets for seizure.
• Prepare detailed investigative reports, charts, and presentations for prosecutorial use and testify in court as a witness.
• Maintain chain‑of‑custody procedures, manage investigative equipment, and coordinate with other law‑enforcement and regulatory agencies.

Required profile

• At least twelve months of experience in fraud investigation or a related field.
• Preference for POST certification, a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Healthcare Administration, Accounting, Business, or related discipline, and certifications such as Certified Fraud Examiner.
• Ability to complete state‑required training and verification courses.

Required skills

• Proficiency with computer software for database creation, spreadsheet analysis, and report generation.
• Experience analyzing financial records, medical billing data, and public‑record databases.
