Inventory Planner – Retail Forecasting & Stock Management

About the role

Serena & Lily is seeking an Inventory Planner to join its fast‑growing multi‑channel retail team at the Sausalito headquarters. The role focuses on generating product forecasts, managing inventory, and supporting strategic financial plans across categories.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the Instock function, including ordering, capacity management, instock rates, unhealthy inventory, and reporting.
• Manage sales, gross margin, receipts, and inventory to achieve company financial goals.
• Forecast and present monthly open‑to‑buy to leadership and hit divisional financial plans.
• Develop and communicate color and size plans and inventory buys aligned with merchandising and marketing objectives.
• Collaborate with merchant, sourcing, and cross‑functional teams to create item‑level forecasts, manage backorders, and meet in‑stock targets.
• Analyze historical data and current trends to identify risks, maximize sales, and guide clearance strategies.
• Support a collaborative, results‑oriented environment and share best practices across teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of inventory management or related experience.
• Extensive experience using Excel.
• Four‑year college degree or equivalent experience.
• Ability to work on a hybrid schedule (in‑office and remote).
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and presentation skills.
• Clear understanding of financial metrics such as sales, gross margin, GMROI, weeks on hand, etc.
• Collaborative, flexible, and results‑focused mindset.
