Intern - Public Affairs & Communications

About the role

LSG, an impact agency specializing in brand building, corporate reputation management and public affairs, is seeking interns for its spring program in Washington, DC. The program runs from January 5 to May 14 at the downtown DC office, offering recent graduates and college students up to 30 hours a week of hands-on experience at the intersection of public policy, communications, brand and advocacy. Interns work on-site and earn $23 per hour.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze complex communications challenges and develop strategic solutions
• Create persuasive client materials such as op-eds, press releases and policy briefs
• Refine written content with careful attention to accuracy and messaging
• Track media coverage and identify key trends across traditional and digital platforms
• Build and maintain targeted media distribution lists
• Support high-profile events such as congressional hearings, press conferences and client meetings
• Research emerging issues to support client solutions and business development
• Contribute to social media strategy and content creation

Required profile

• Rising college junior/senior or recent graduate with a background in communications, public policy, political science, journalism or a related field
• Exceptional writing abilities with strong research and fact-checking skills
• Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Self-motivated team player who thrives in collaborative settings
• Experience crafting messages for diverse audiences and stakeholders

Required skills

• Familiarity with media monitoring and social media management tools (e.g., Cision, Meltwater, Hootsuite, Canva)
• Strong written and verbal communication, research and critical thinking skills
