Instructor – Basic Law Enforcement Program

About the role

Join Savannah Technical College as a full‑time Instructor for the Basic Law Enforcement Program. You will deliver both theoretical and practical training that prepares students for the Basic Law Enforcement Certification Technical Certificate of Credit.

Key responsibilities

• Teach classroom and lab sessions, developing syllabi, goals, and objectives.
• Evaluate student progress toward program outcomes.
• Maintain program certification requirements and prepare required documentation.
• Stay current with industry trends through workshops, seminars, and conferences.
• Ensure safety and security standards in instructional environments.
• Assist students in securing placements within law‑enforcement or related fields.

Required profile

• Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice or a related field with at least 10 graduate hours.
• Georgia P.O.S.T. Instructor Certification in good standing.
• Minimum three years of full‑time law‑enforcement experience.
• Experience maintaining lesson plans and course notebooks aligned with current curriculum.
• Ability to employ diverse adult‑learning methods and provide individualized assistance.
• Knowledge of local business and industry trends.
• Experience designing and implementing quality‑improvement programs.
• Valid driver’s license and insurability.
• Preferred: Georgia P.O.S.T. Firearms, EVOC, Defensive Tactics certifications and prior college‑level teaching experience.
