Instructional Coach for Middle School Math & ELA

About the role

The Instructional Coach works with 4–6 middle‑grade Math and ELA teachers, primarily grades 7 and 8, to implement the CAMP Teacher Coaching Framework and improve student outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare intellectual prep packets for each unit, including unpacked standards, exemplars, productive struggle, anticipated errors, and exit tickets.
• Observe each teacher weekly (15‑20 min), script student work, and hold a focused 15‑minute feedback conversation.
• Lead weekly PLC sessions, co‑facilitate protected prep blocks, and model/co‑teach lessons according to the teacher’s stage.
• Develop SMART scaffolding plans with removal dates and align high‑dosage tutoring to priority standards.
• Collect and analyze iReady and classroom data (baseline, mid‑year, end‑of‑year) and report trends to the Instructional Leadership Team.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree and valid teaching certification.
• At least three years of successful middle‑grade Math or ELA teaching with documented student growth.
• Working knowledge of Alabama grade‑level standards and experience with intellectual prep.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain high instructional standards while building warm relationships.
• Coaching, department‑lead, or scaffolding design experience preferred.
