Inside Sales Representative I

About the role

Gerdau is hiring an Inside Sales Representative I in Tampa, Florida, in its Sales & Marketing area. The role sells existing and introduces new products and services to established clients in a defined territory, handling orders, quotations and lead times by fax, telephone and email. It sits close to the customer and covers sales order receipt, product delivery, pricing, order management, invoice claims, credit memoranda and customer problem resolution.

Key responsibilities

• Serve 14 to 30 accounts and support annual sales volume of $900,000 to $950,000 (80,000 to 85,000 tons).
• Build quotations on standard products, write orders and follow up on leads generated by the sales team.
• Convert inbound sales calls into sales, quote prices, discuss credit terms and estimate delivery dates.
• Make proactive outbound calls to generate orders and help the Sales Representative manage the territory.
• Maintain good relationships with customers, resolve complaints and gather information on competitors and market changes.
• Assist the Customer Service Manager, Sales Manager and Director of Sales in setting goals, including quarterly shipment forecasting and pricing.
• Work with Credit and Transportation departments, check inventory and shipment timing, and attend sales meetings and industry events.
• Enter customer data into the sales database and report monthly sales performance.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing or a related field from a four-year college or university.
• Minimum 1 year of sales-related experience with proven results.
• Exposure to steel industry sales preferred.
• Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment and to perform the full scope of the job with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication and telephone sales skills.
• Working knowledge of Office 365, particularly Microsoft Excel.
• Customer service, decision making, problem resolution and creative thinking.
