Inpatient Pharmacy Supervisor

About the role

The Inpatient Pharmacy Supervisor supports daily clinical pharmacy functions, ensuring high‑quality patient care and continuous improvement of pharmacy services at Ochsner Health. The role balances direct patient care with leadership responsibilities, fostering a collaborative learning environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain 80‑95% of time on direct patient care and quality improvement, with the remainder on administrative duties.
• Implement, maintain, and assure quality of clinical pharmacy services across the department.
• Facilitate bidirectional communication between leadership and staff, serving as a role model for peers, residents, students, and technicians.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with federal, state, and accreditation standards.

Required profile

• Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree with a current state pharmacy license.
• At least 1 year of experience in a hospital or academic pharmacy setting; 3 years preferred.
• Post‑Graduate Year 1 residency in pharmacy practice; PGY‑2 residency preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑style applications and data entry for patient information retrieval.
• Computer literacy for electronic health record systems and pharmacy software.
• Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties certification (preferred).
