Inpatient Pharmacist – PRN

About the role

The Inpatient Pharmacist (PRN) joins a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective, and cost‑conscious drug therapy for hospitalized patients. This position supports the pharmacy’s mission of delivering exceptional care through accurate medication preparation, dispensing, and clinical oversight.

Key responsibilities

• Evaluate physician orders for appropriateness, considering allergies, renal function, concomitant therapies, lab values, dosing guidelines, and patient condition.
• Prepare, compound, and dispense medications—including sterile products and investigational drugs—while adhering to quality assurance and regulatory standards.
• Monitor patient drug therapy, document interventions, assess adverse drug reactions, and provide patient education and drug information.
• Maintain pharmacy operations in compliance with state and federal regulations and support continuing education to keep licensure current.

Required profile

• Current pharmacy license in the state of practice.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Pharm.D. preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call availability.
• Physical ability to lift moderate weights, stoop, bend, and handle hazardous medications safely.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Windows‑based applications and pharmacy software for data entry and retrieval.
• Technical competence in compounding pharmaceuticals and operating sterile‑product equipment.
• Effective verbal and written communication for presenting drug information to clinicians and patients.
• Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
