Information Systems Engineer

About the role

AheadComputing is hiring an Information Systems Engineer in Portland, Oregon, to support CPU design and verification workloads. The role covers Linux infrastructure, hardware assembly, tool development, containerized services and CI/CD pipelines, and works closely with engineering teams and end users.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and optimize the Linux compute environment for CPU design and verification workloads, onsite and in the cloud, including capacity planning, performance tuning and high availability.
• Perform hands-on hardware work such as assembling, racking and cabling servers and workstations, and manage parts inventory, spares, RMAs and vendor orders.
• Design, develop and maintain automation tools and scripts to improve system performance and reduce manual effort.
• Build, deploy and maintain containerized services and environments, and support CI/CD pipelines for design, verification and infrastructure workflows.
• Administer EDA tool installations and license servers (e.g., FlexLM).
• Develop monitoring solutions and configure alerting for critical incidents.
• Work with engineering teams and end users, document tools and workflows and share knowledge across teams.

Required profile

• Strong background in Linux systems administration, IT automation and system optimization.
• Hands-on experience building and using containers in production environments.
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Expertise in HPC and data center environments.
• Strong understanding of CPU design methods and requirements for compute and license management.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.
